Local farmers urged:
File insurance claims

Members of the Negros First Universal Crop Insurance Program are encouraged to file their notice of loss at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist for their farm losses caused by typhoon Gener.

Dina Genzola, OPA senior agriculturist, said yesterday that NFUCIP has released P189,935 to farmers whose farm lands were damaged by typhoon in the last two months.

She said the program has helped small farmers in their expenses and losses due to calamities and pest infestation since it was launched last year, adding that farmers who registered their lands with NUFICP can depend on it during calamities and infestation.

As of July 31, NFUCIP has covered 2,653.314 hectares of land from 2,969 farmers.

Genzola also said notices of loss have to be filed immediately at their office so they can assess the total damage and process these for refund.

The program is designed to reduce the impact of losses from calamities and to achieve food security and agricultural productivity for Negros Occidental, Genzola also said. *LTG
