Widower killed in
crime of passion

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A 46-year-old widower accused of having an affair with a married woman, was hacked and stabbed dead in Brgy. Camingawan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, police said yesterday.

The suspect, identified as Ronnie Ronquillo, 50, yesterday surrendered to the Mabinay Police Station in Negros Oriental, Supt. Calixto Mabugat, Kabankalan police chief said.

Mabugat said the victim, Pepito Morales,46, succumbed to multiple hack and stab wounds.

Investigations by the Kabankalan police showed that the killing of Morales, a farmer, was triggered by jealousy, as the victim allegedly had an intimate relationship with the wife of the suspect.

Witnesses barangay tanods Leo Traya and Victor Benigay recovered a bolo with a scabbard, a Smith and Wesson .38 caliber revolver with six live ammunition, and a black gun holster from the suspect, police records also showed.

Mabugat said he dispatched a police team to fetch Ronquillo from the Mabinay Police Station, for transfer of detention to the Kabankalan City Police Station. *GPB
