Dumaguete City-based poet Myrna Peña-Reyes will discuss her poems in a lecture titled “The Father-Daughter Connection” at the Dioscoro Rabor Lecture Hall in Silliman University, 10:15 a.m. August 9, a press release from the school said.
The lecture is part of the Writers Lecture Series initiated by the newly-instituted Edilberto and Edith Tiempo Creative Writing Center of SU.
Peña-Reyes is the author of two poetry collections, titled “The River Singing Stone”, published by Anvil in 1994, and “Almost Home”, printed by the University of the Philippines Press in 2004, the press release also said.
She was born in 1938 to schoolteacher parents in Cagayan de Oro, and holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Oregon, where she met her husband, the poet William Sweet. She and her husband eventually retired in Dumaguete.
