PBA GOVERNOR’S CUP
Chan named finals MVP as
Rain or Shine wins title

With his impressive performance in the PBA Governor’s Cup this season, Bacoleño Jeff Chan was named as the Cinnabon-PBA Press Corps Finals MVP last night, as his team Rain or Shine celebrated their first PBA crown in franchise history.

Rain or Shine turned back B-Meg, 83-76, in last night’s Game 7 showdown.

Chan, who finished with 16 points last night, averaged 12 points and 3 rebounds in 32 minutes during the finals.

His game seemed to have taken a dip in Game 5 and 6, as Rain or Shine lost to B-Meg, but he recovered in the crucial stages of the game last night as he registered 3-for-6 field shooting and registered 14 points at halftime. He also converted all his six free throws during the game.

Meanwhile, Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao praised his wards for giving their best during the tournament and for giving the franchise its first title six years after joining the PBA.

In terms of age, he said the team has the youngest roster in the league and they literally had zero championship experience.

Meanwhile, another Negrense, James Yap, tried to turn things around for B-Meg as he tallied 23 points.

B-Meg chances to reverse the outcome of the game dimmed after its import Marqus Blakely fouled out with 8:30 left in the game.*NAB
