BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

A businessman was shot at the national highway in Bonawon, at around 9 p.m. Saturday in Siaton town, Negros Oriental.

Police identified the fatality as Efren Boktolan, 61, of Barangay Bonawon in the town, who died on the spot due multiple gunshot wounds to the head and shoulder.

Boktolan was on board a motorcycle with his live-in partner, when two men on another motorcycle fired at them.

The police, however, did not reveal the condition of the woman.

Policemen recovered at the crime scene the victim’s motorcycle, personal belongings, a 9-millimeter caliber pistol, a magazine with 11 rounds of live ammunition, a slug, and a mission order from a military unit in Region 7.

The Siaton police said they are now tracing the gun to its owner, or to whom it was registered, and verifying the identity of the military official who had signed the MO.*JFP
