IN ACCIDENT
2 die, 3 injured
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Two were killed and three other passengers were hurt when the tricycle they were riding collided with a rushing multi-cab used as an ambulance owned by Brgy. Felisa, at the Villa Maria Subdivision, Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City at about 9 p.m. Sunday.

Crisanto Pamplona, 38, of Zone 5 and Felix Serna, 66, Zone 8, in Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod died while being treated at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital yesterday, traffic investigator Police Officer 2 Eliseo Adraneda said.

Their remains are now at the Alisbo Memorial Chapels at Lacson Street, Bacolod.

Adraneda said passengers treated at the same hospital were Alfredo Roquez, 46, and Alvin Latergo of Zone 5, Brgy. Handumanan and Larry Valderama, 55, of Bangga Totong, Brgy. Felisa.

The ambulance was bringing Anabelle Villanueva, 28, of Brgy. Felisa to the hospital because she had a miscarriage. Her husband Roberto and six other passengers of the tricycle were not hurt in the accident, Adraneda also said.

Ambulance driver Fernando Adrada, 47, of Purok Matinahuron, Brgy. Felisa surrendered to Police Station 10, where he is now detained. Investigation showed that the tricycle driven by an unidentified person who evaded arrest, was heading north of Felisa road while the ambulance was heading in the opposite direction at the time.

Adrada said the tricycle driver who was avoiding a pot hole, occupied their lane, causing the accident.

Councilor Mona Dia Jardin, Captain of Brgy. Felisa, said the area where the collision happened is indeed an accident-prone area as it is not well lighted.

She said the Barngay Council of Felisa conducted a special session yesterday and discussed the possible extension of financial support to the family of the victims.

Jardin also urged the owner and the driver of the tricycle to surface and face their obligations.

Two weeks ago, nine persons were also injured when the ambulance of San Enrique town collided with a truck at the junction of Rizal and Lacson Street in Bacolod.*APN
