RD escapes Robinhood
in YBAC basketball tilt

After a heartbreaking 80-74 loss against Jaltas Marketing last week, RD Trucking escaped Robinhood, 85-84, in their recent match-up in the ongoing Your Basketball Athletic Club (YBAC) 1st Conference Presidential Cup 2012 at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum.

Mario Reyes proved to be a consistent scoring machine for RD as he scored 17 points in their last outing to spearhead Trucking’s offense.

Reyes led his team’s 25-point output in the first quarter with 10 points as Bong Ibe and Atty. Arnel Lapore added eight points each, while Mayo Salazar and Ritchie Yanson combined 11 points for Robinhood.

Robinhood bounced back in the second period and outscored RD on a 31-15 run behind Inocensio Tan’s 14 and Gershon Sipe’s eight points to close the half with his team on top, 43-40.

In the third quarter, RD delivered 22 points against Robinhood’s 17 to get back the lead, 62-60, going into the payoff period.

Again, Reyes made his presence felt inside the paint as he collected seven more points, while Nonoy Pacheco and Jaype contributed five points apiece to put RD back on top, even as Lito Dollaso and Ramis hit six points each to keep Robinhood at bay.

Robinhood tried to made a final run in the final quarter but fell short as RD sustained their lead towards the final buzzer with Rolly Buenaflor and Ibe scoring six points each and Jaype with five points.

Backing up Reyes in the scoring task were Ibe with 14, Buenaflor with 13, Lapore and Jaype with 10 points each, and Randy Pudadera with 8 points.

Meanwhile, Dollaso led Robinhood with 17 points as Tan and Sipe tallied 14 points apiece, Salazar with 12 and Ramis with eight points.

In the other match, Jaltas Marketing/Consuelo’s absorbed its first defeat in the hands of Josbianc Motors, 93-83, with the latter in complete control of the game.

Josbianc went on a 28-19 blast in the opening quarter with Oscar Aquino scoring 14 points while teammates Marlon Caballero and Joel Togle sunk 8 points each. Nathaniel Bacaron and R. Siolboro had 6 points apiece for Jaltas.

In the second quarter, Eugene Tsai sizzled with 12 points to spearhead Jaltas’ 24- point quarter production against Joshbianc’s 19 to cut down the lead at the half, 47-43.

Joshbianc kept the lead at the end of third after both teams scored even in the period with 23 points each.

Motors final surged in the fourth quarter netted nine points for Co and seven markers for Magay, while Ernie Castillo was the lone consistent player for Jaltas with six points.

Aquino topscored Joshbianc with 20 points as Co added 17, Magay 15, and Caballero and Togle with 8 points each.

Meanwhile, Castillo and Tsai carried Jaltas with 16 points each while Narciso Galang added 12 points.*NAB
