Boston aims for crown in
LNA7 cage tourney

Jerald Abrot had a game-high 34 points, all in the second half, to lift Boston Finance past Watchmen Daily Journal in a closely battled Game 1 of the 1st LNA7/PROBAC Invitational Basketball Tournament played Tuesday at the West Negros University gym.

Boston will try to seal the best-of-three series tonight in Game 2 as they carry a one game advantage over Watchmen.

Watchmen took the lead in the opening quarter, 25-21, behind Ceasar Tan’s 11 points and Marion Upu-an’s 9 points as John Villaroman anchored Boston with 10 markers.

However, Boston came out as a better offensive team in the second period outscoring Watchmen 31-22 on Matt Delis’ 14 points and Yan Dy’s 8 markers while Jun-Jun Alisbo hit 10 points.

Boston led the half by 5 points, 52-47.

Offensive momentum was carried by Boston players in the third as they further extended the lead to 10 points that the end of the period, 90-80 after Abrot scored a huge 21 points while Villaroman delivered 11 points for the 38-33 run.

Pril Gacho led Watchmen quarter offense with 13 points, including 3 triples as Elmer Antonio sunk 8 points.

Watchmen tried to catch up in the fourth but their efforts were not enough to overturn the Boston yield.

Backing Abrot in scoring were Delis with 24 points, Villaroman with 21, Dy 14 and RB Chua with 9 points.

Meanwhile, Upu-an topscored Watchmen with 23 points as Gacho delivered 19, Antonio 18, Tan 17 and Donald Quilantang with 11 points.*
