Blogging contest ongoing

The search for the 2nd Journ.ph Best Information Officer Blogger contest of Smart Communications is ongoing in Regions 6, 7 and 8, a government press release said.

The contest aims to find the best bloggers among information officers, either regular, contractual or casual, and working in government agencies or local government units in the three regions, who are registered as mentors at journ.ph, a wordpress-powered blog where student journalists can publish campus and community stories.

The blog was part of the online campus journalism program of the company and the Ateneo Java Wireless Competency Center, the press release also said.

Interested IOs must register as journ.ph mentor by filling out the online contest registration form at http://goo.gl/iXE7p. The Journ.ph team will evaluate the registration, and approved contestants will receive an agreement form.

Contestants are expected to blog on tips for writers/journalists, cyber laws/ethics, career tips for writers/bloggers and work experience as information officer that can be helpful for campus paper journalists.

Prizes at stake are P5,000 for the winner, P3,000 for the first runner-up, and P2,000 for second runner-up. Special awards will be handed out for the Most Active Agency and Most Active Blogger, the press release added.*
