Several policemen from the Bacolod City Police Office who failed to lose weight will be sent to Subic for a two-month rigid training, City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, said yesterday.
The obese policemen, who are now under going a weight loss management program at the BCPO, will be weighed in two weeks and those who do not show any signs of improvements will be sent to Subic, de la Paz said.
Since they launched the weight loss management training program at the BCPO, he said many policemen have become slimmer, based on the monitoring they conduct every week.
Seven high ranking officers and 69 policemen with the ranks of Police Officer 1 to Senior Police Officer 4 in Bacolod City were listed as “obese,” and are required to attend the twice-a-week weight loss management program at the city police headquarters.
Twenty-four of the overweight policemen are assigned at the BCPO headquarters and the rest in Police Stations 1 to 10.
De la Paz said their body mass is not proportion to their height, and that makes them overweight. After the weight loss management program, he said, the policemen will undergo physical fitness tests thrice, and if they fail, this means removal from the service.
PRO-6 record show that at Camp Martin Delgado, and in Iloilo City and Iloilo Province, there are about 150 “oversized” policemen.*APN back
