A suspect charged for the murder of broadcaster Neil “Lito” Jimena who was arrested recently was remitted Thursday to the Provincial Jail in Bago City, Negros Occidental, after being subjected to medical examinations and presentation to the court, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group said.
Noel Guimeroy, 47, was apprehended by CIDG operatives on Aug. 8 in Brgy. Tinongan, Isabela.
He and Joel Calunsod, who is still at-large, were tagged by witnesses for the assassination of Jimena in EB. Magalona last year.
Calunsod and Guimeroy were denied bail by the court.
Chief Inspector Cresenciano Cordero Jr., CIDG provincial chief, said Guimeroy underwent medical examinations at the Provincial Health Office.Guimeroy vehemently denied that he had participated in the killing of Jimena on Aug. 22 last year.
Cordero said they received reports that other members his group went into hiding, after learning of his arrest.
Kholyn Joy Jimena, eldest daughter of the slain broadcaster, said they are hopeful that the arrest of Guimeroy , will lead to the arrest of the gunman and the mastermind.
Jimena hosted block-time programs that usually attacked politicians or perceived political rivals of his patrons. He was also a former agent of thePhilippine Drug Enforcement Agency, police records show.*GPB
