4th NCMB Media Awards ongoing

The National Statistical Coordination Board will accept entries to the 4th National Statistics Month Media Awards until August 31 this year, a government press release said.

The award recognizes the role of print, broadcast or online media practitioners from both the government and private organizations, who have contributed to the promotion and use of statistics in information dissemination and other purposes.

The criteria are quality, accuracy and timeliness of the article or report relevant to the needs of the people, 35 percent; frequency of articles/reports released during the contest period from November 2011 to July this year, 35 percent; and effectiveness to improving people’s lives through informed decisions, 30 percent. Plaques and cash prizes will be awarded to winners for TV, radio and print/online categories during the 23rd NSM opening rites this October, the press release said.

An applicant can either apply or be nominated, and must submit before the end of this month a bio-data, list of news articles/reports, copies of the three best articles/reports as entries, and endorsement from affiliated organization/company to Ruben Litan of the NSM Media Awards Working Group.

Those interested may contact the NSM Secretariat at 890-9405/890-8456, email info@nscb.gov.ph, or visit its website at http://www.nscb.gov.ph/nsm/MediaAwards, the press release added.*
