9 students nabbed
at ‘pot session’

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Station 7 policemen apprehended nine high school students in Brgy, Mansilingan, Bacolod City who were allegedly having a pot session in a toilet of their campus at about 10:30 a.m. yesterday.

The apprehended students, aged 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18, whose names Pangue withheld, are now in police custody and will undergo drug tests next week.

Pangue said a concerned citizen informed them that a group of students were at the toilet of Brgy. Mansilingan Agro-Industrial School and were sniffing suspicious cigaret.

Policemen who went to the area apprehended the students but failed to recover the alleged marijuana cigaret that they already threw into a grassy area of the campus, he said.

Pangue added that they will meet with the school administration on measures to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs at the institution.

Bacolod Schools Division SuperintendentGemma Ledesma was in a meeting and could not give a reaction as of press time yesterday, but assured that they will investigate the incident immediately.

Meanwhile, three were arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Bacolod City Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group in Brgy. 2 and Vista Alegre, Bacolod yesterday and Tuesday.

CAIDSTOG chief, Senior Insp. Niel Exaltado said they swooped down on the residence of the couple, Julymar Segurada, “alias Nonoy,” and Jean Marie Cantero, “alias Gaga,” in Abada Escay, Brgy. Vista Alegre at about 6:30 a.m. yesterday on complaints that they are into illegal drug operations.

However, only Cantero was around during the raid, while Segurada evaded arrest, Exaltado said.

Recovered from the couple’s residence were three elongated heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu and two elongated empty sachets with visible traces of shabu.

PDEA also arrested Celia Panao, 51, and Bernardo Panao, 52, of Purok Tilapia, Brgy. 2 at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at Purok Santo Niño in the Barangay.

Intelligence Officer 2 Aline Cimafranca, who led the arrest, said one of them handed a small sachet of suspected shabu to an agent who acted as a poseur buyer.

The PDEA recovered from the Panaos two small heat-sealed transparent sachets of suspected shabu.

Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said their anti-illegal drugs campaign is gaining ground.

De la Paz said that from January to August this year, around 100 illegal drug personalities have been arrested, compared to about 80 last year.*APN
