A Free Trade Area information session, “Doing Business in Free Trade Areas – Focus on the Japan Market,” will be conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Bureau of Customs and the Tariff Commission at the Centro Planta Bacolod Hotel and Residences, in Bacolod City, 8 a.m. today, a press release from DTI said.
The Philippines-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, ASEAN FTA and a number of ASEAN Regional FTAs including ASEAN-China, ASEAN-Japan, ASEAN-Korea and ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand FTAs are now being implemented.
The FTAs bring a number of trade benefits, primarily tariff elimination or reduction which will make Philippine export products more competitive, the press release said.
The information session will cover discussions on market opportunities with focus on products with zero or reduced tariffs under existing free trade agreements as well as the procedures on how to access them, the press release said.
The sessions will also feature entrepreneurs who will share their experiences in using free trade agreements to their advantage.*
