Lecture on
creative writing at SU

Writer Tim Tomlinson, co-founder of the New York Writers Workshop, will give a talk on the practicalities in the creative writing life, at Silliman University in Dumaguete City at 5: p.m. today, a press release from the school said.

The lecture, titled “Now What: Life After a Writing Degree,” will be held at the Katipunan Hall of the College of Arts and Sciences, and is part of the Authors Lecture Series sponsored by the Edilberto and Edith Tiempo Creative Writing Center.

Tomlinson studied film and literature/writing at the School of General Studies, and took an MFA in Fiction at the School of the Arts, both at Columbia University. He is co-author of “The Portable MFA in Creative Writing” and has taught in Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and at New York University’s Villa La Pietra in Florence, the press release said.

He will also take part in “One Night with Writers from the Gentle City,” an invitational music and reading night on Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., that will feature Dumaguete writers Myrna Pena-Reyes, Cesar Ruiz Aquino, Bobby Flores Villasis, Arkaye Timonera, RV Escatron, Bron Teves, and Sonia SyGaco, among others, the press release added.*
