Two suspects in death
of caregiver surrender

Two of the three suspects in the fatal stabbing of a caregiver in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City Friday, surrendered to the police yesterday.

Gerald Condeza, 23, “alias Jimboy”, of Fortune Town Subdivision, Brgy. Estefania, and the 17-year-old, whose name is being withheld, sought the help of Bombo Radyo Bacolod to clear their names, Station 6 commander, Chief Insp. Noel Polines, said.

Polines said the two denied participation in the killing of Raymund Aliling, 26, of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, and an in-house caregiver of the Eusebio family at Pleasantville Subdivision, Taculing in the city.

They named a certain Jiboy Guillermo, who is still at large, as the one who stabbed Aliling, Polines said.

The suspects told the police that they saw Guillermo chasing Aliling with a knife and when the caregiver was lying on the pavement, they fled because of fear, Polines said.

Station 6 policemen are trying to establish the participation of Condeza and the minor in Aliling’s death, and are waiting for the result of the autopsy conducted on the victim’s body before charges are filed against the suspects, Polines said.

The victim was found dead with multiple stab wounds beside the road in Purok Masagana, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, at about 1:30 a.m. Friday. He was last seen at the Pablo O Torre Memorial Hospital, where his employer was confined.

A witness told the police he saw the suspects approach and invite Aliling, who was walking at the road in Purok Masagana, to a birthday party nearby.

Polines said the motive for the stabbing was still being determined as of yesterday, after the robbery angle was ruled out, since Aliling’s personal belongings were still intact.

Aliling’s remains are now at the St. Peter Memorial Chapels in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod.*APN

5 taxis caught without
emergency blinkers

Five taxis were caught by Station 1 policemen without emergency blinkers at the Bacolod City downtown area on Saturday, the first day of the implementation of City Ordinance 590.

The operation, led by Police Officer 3 Wilfredo Perez and traffic enforcer Elector Cawaling, was conducted from 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Araneta-San Sebastian and Araneta-Gonzaga streets, Bacolod, Station 1 commander, Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales said.

The taxis were not impounded but the drivers received violation tickets, Rosales said.

Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz had ordered policemen to apprehend violators of City Ordinance 590, that requires taxi operators in the city to install blinkers on their units.

The ordinance was approved May this year, and aims to curb robbery incidents involving taxi drivers, De la Paz said, who reminded operators anew yesterday to abide by the ordinance for the protection of their drivers and business.

Under the ordinance, a taxi operator will be fined P5,000 plus temporary cancellation of business permit until the blinker is installed.*APN
