The manager of ABS-CBN Bacolod yesterday apologized to motorists who got stuck in traffic during their fun run activity along Lacson Street Saturday night.

Leilani Salem-Alba was responding to complaints raised by numerous motorists to the Bacolod City Traffic Authority and several media entities, including the DAILY STAR, against the fun run of Bantay Bata, that had resulted in severe traffic congestions along Lacson and other side streets of the city on Saturday.

A motorist, who asked not to be named, said their vehicle was stalled for almost 30 minutes in front of the Rolling Hills Memorial Chapels. He said that many other motorists were also mad because they had even been stranded for almost an hour.

The portion of Lacson Street from the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol Lagoon down to 26th-Lacson Streets near the ABS-CBN compound was closed while the outer lane of the road from 26th-Lacson Street to Talisay City was occupied by the fun run participants.

Alba said they regret the fact that, despite their traffic advisories aired over television, radio and published in local newspapers, many commuters were still affected by the closure of the portion of Lacson Street.

She appealed for understanding of the public saying the amount collected from the fun run will be for the projects of ABS-CBN Foundation, Bantay Bata 163 and Sagip Kapamilya which includes aid to those affected by the floods in Luzon.

TMU head, Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche said traffic further worsened at Lacson Street on Saturday because Gatuslao Street, where the vehicles were rerouted, is being repaired.*APN
