Joshbianc remains undefeated
in Fil-Sino basketball tourney

Joshbianc Motors swept the elimination round with an emphatic victory over MRT Gentech, 111-88, while Fyr Fyter Marketing improved its quarterfinal chances by defeating Johann Kendrick, 100-90, at the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd Conference Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Joshua Co waxed hot in the fourth quarter as he delivered seven triples, to lead Joshbian with 42 points.

Daniel Lo added 18 points, Bobby Yap tallied 17, and Richard Co hit 13 points as Joshbianc advance to the next round with an unbeaten record.

MRT was led by Charlton Ong with 30 points, while Luigi Coo had 14 markers.

Meanwhile, Fyr Fyter’s 32-19 opening quarter lead proved to be the cushion for its victory with Arvin Gustilo scoring 11 points.

Julius Teruel replicated Gustilo’s output in the second quarter to keep the lead on Fyr Fyter’s side.

In the second half, Johann Kendrick outscored Fyr Fyter to cut the deficit to 76-70 led by Biboy Yap with 17 points and Kevin Banzon with 15 points.

But the rally of JK was cut short as Teruel and Gustilo combined for 15 points to counter the JK uprising led by Peter Galon with 9 points.

Teruel finished with 31 points, Gustilo picked up 17, Nico Lopingco shot 16 points, Mark Binguan made 15, and Devin Villacruz had 13 points for the Fyr Fighter.

Banzon topscored for JK with 22 points, Biboy Yap and Arian Chua hit 19 points each and Galon finished with 15 points.

In the other game, Atlantic Auto Supply assured themselves of the second spot after Andre Tan scorched the hardcourt with 69 points, anchored on 19 treys, as they routed the already out of contention Campuestohan Highland Resort, 114-87.

Tan scored all of Atlantic points in the fourth quarter as he buried 12 triples for 42 points.

In the other game Orix Metro improved their quarterfinal chances holding off an undermanned Guanzon Dental Clinic, 87-82.

Robbie Jalando-on paced Orix Metro with 20 points, Kenderson Hao contributed 18, Pao Pao Lim scored 17 points, and Jan Jan Guevarra made 14 points.

Mark Velez spearheaded Guanzon in a losing effort with 21 points, while Chibon Uy had 20, Yap and Guanzon delivered 14 points each and Cesar Noble had 13 points.

Johann Kendrick and MRT Gentech are playing as of press time to determine the third seed, while Orix Metro need a victory over Atlantic Auto Parts to have a chance for a triple tie for the last spot.*NAB
