The City of Bacolod garnered the highest score of 84.47 percent in the Search for the Child-Friendly Municipalities/Cities in Region 6, as adjudged by the Regional Awards Committee of the Regional Council for the Welfare of Children.
This was announced by Social Welfare and Development VI Regional Director Minda Brigoli, CESO III, through a letter addressed to Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Brigoli congratulated the city and wished that Bacolod will make it to the Search in the national level.
She said the RSCWC, Western Visayas has endorsed the city’s documents and evaluator results to the National Awards Committee for the Region 6 entry for the Highly Urbanized City category, a press release from City Hall said.
Meanwhile, Leonardia thanked the city DSSD headed by Sally Abelarde for their good performance that led to the achievement, and the constituents of the City of Bacolod for their cooperation.
In October, 2011, Bacolod was the only local government outside of Luzon that made it as national finalist to the Most Child-Friendly Award.
The award for the Most Child-Friendly City, National Level in 2011 was won by Mandaluyong City.
Bacolod, that competes in the Highly-Urbanized category, is a consistent regional winner and has been included in the national level for many years now.* back
