Philandering husbands,
partners to face charges

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9262 or Violence Against Women and their children will be filed against an army corporal and his alleged paramour, an employee of the Negros Occidental Provincial Government, before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office today.

City Police Women and Children’s Complaints Desk head, Insp. Jovy Cabcaban, said yesterday that they already got the affidavit of complaint from the army corporal’s wife, who is also an army sergeant, and they will use it to strengthen the case against him and his alleged paramour.

Cabcaban said they are filing the charges against the army corporal and his alleged mistress as their acts constitute psychological violence against the army man’s wife.

She said they cannot pursue concubinage charges against them because they were not caught in the act of having sexual intercourse.

The army corporal is now in the custody of his superior while his alleged paramour did not report for work at the Provincial Capitol yesterday.

Col. Oscar Lactao, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said he has ordered an investigation on the case of the army corporal to determine his administrative liability.

Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr, meanwhile, said that if there is a formal complaint, a committee, composed if the personnel from the Provincial legal office and the human resource office, will be formed to determine the liability of the provincial Capitol employee.

On Friday, the wife of the army corporal, caught him and his paramour at a motel in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod after several months of surveillance in the belief that he is philandering.

CAUGHT, TOO

A seaman, 60, was also caught by his 55-year-old wife in a motel in Brgy. 6, Bacolod Sunday with his alleged 27-year-old mistress, Cabcaban said.

The wife has been suspecting that her husband was having an affair with another woman, prompting her to tail him into the motel, Cabcaban also said.

She used the remote control that opens the doors of her husband’s car that creates a beeping sound to locate the area of the motel where her husband and his alleged paramour were staying.

The seaman and his alleged other woman will also face complaints for violation of RA 9262.*APN
