A fast craft going to Bacolod City from Iloilo province developed mechanical trouble and was stranded in the sea for almost two hours Monday.
Lt. Commander Dominador Senador, head of the Philippine Coast Guard-Bacolod, said yesterday that the captain of To Go Fast Craft called for assistance at about 3:50 p.m. while about one nautical mile off the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation port. The PCG sent a tugboat to pull the sea vessel to the port at about 6 p.m.
The fast craft was carrying 112 passengers and 14 crew members who were all safe, Senador also said.
He added that, as of yesterday, the management of the fast craft had not sent an official report to the PCG on what caused the mechanical trouble.
The PCG is reminding fishermen not to venture into the sea for a while to avoid accidents as there a tropical storm is coming.
Tropical Storm “Helen” may intensify into a typhoon as it continues to gain strength while moving toward the tip of northern Luzon, raising fears of more flooding in large swaths of the island. Storm signal number 1 was raised over in the provinces of Quirino, Aurora, Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Cagayan and Batanes by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration Monday.*APN back
