Members of the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan failed to take action yesterday on the request of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. for a resolution authorizing him to negotiate for the release of P240 million from the Capitol’s standby loan with the Land Bank of the Philippines, despite a caucus that lasted more than an hour.
The request of Marañon, was, however, included in the “Reference of Business” during the SP regular session yesterday, that was presided over by Vice-Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr.
Marañon is seeking the P170 million from the loan for phase two of the Negros First Cyber Center at the Paglaum Sports Complex in Bacolod City, P50 million for the construction of a three-storey Provincial Administration Center Annex Building, and P10 million for additional classrooms at the annex building of the Negros Occidental High School, all in Bacolod City.
Phase one of the Negros First Cyber Center had been allocated P450 million last year, Alvarez said earlier.
Meanwhile, the SP approved the request of Marañon for the passage of a resolution amending its Resolution No. 505, series of 2011, as amended by Resolution No. 698, series of 2011, that endorses the letter of application of the provincial government to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority for accreditation of a property located at Brgy. 39 in Bacolod City, with a gross floor area of 22,032 square meters to be established on a 43,791 square meters lot, as an Information Technology Center to be known as Negros First Cyber Center.* GPB back
