The Bacolod City government has started the rehabilitation of the City High-Mansilingan Road (Doña Juliana to Carlos Hilado/Bacolod Murcia Road) that will cost P4 million from the P35 million Local Government Support Fund award for winning the Seal of Good Housekeeping.
The city has so far spent P10 million on the rehabilitation of roads, P3 million for construction of roads and P7 million for the rehabilitation and improvement of the Libertad Public Market, a press release from City Hall said.
The various local roads connecting to national roads that are being rehabilitated include Aguinaldo Street (18th Street to North Capitol Road) with a budget of P 1.5 million; Hilado Street (from BS Aquino –Burgos Street) P 1.5 million; Rosario Street ( San Juan to Araneta Street) - P1 million;
Magsaysay Street (from BS Aquino Drive to Araneta Street) - P2 million; and construction of Lacson Street Extension, from Magsungay Bridge to Bacolod-Murcia Road - P3 million.
The city has spent P7 million for the rehabilitation and improvement of the Libertad Market, it said.
The LGSFund is intended to defray part of the decrease in the Internal Revenue Allotment for 2012 of local government unit.
It is released only to provinces, cities, municipalities that have passed the Department of Interior and Local Government’s Seal of Good Housekeeping, the release said.
Recipient LGU’s will receive not more than 50 percent of their decrease in their IRA after the DILG has reviewed and approved their project proposals, which are then submitted with a copy of their Annual Investment Plan, or SP Resolution, to the Department of Budget and Management.
The projects to be funded are identified based on their soundness and viability, it added.* back
