Dredging set in
San Enrique

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The dredging of the silted waterways of San Enrique will begin in October, town Mayor Mario Magno said yesterday.

The provincial government-owned dredger is now clearing waterways in EB Magalona and the work is almost halfway done, but already, flooding has been prevented, Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said.

Magno said  EB Magalona Mayor David Lacson informed him that the dredger will be turned over to San Enrique, that also has flood-prone areas, in October.

We have to clear silted waterways and remove fishpens to further prevent flooding, he said, adding that the municipal government will give livelihood projects to affected fisherfolk.

Magno said initial clearing of waterways in his town from April to June has lessened flooding this year.*CPG
