DAR gives ARB group boost
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Secretary Virgilio de los Reyes of the Department of Agrarian Reform yesterday said his office is providing a full package of assistance to an agrarian reform beneficiaries group in southern Negros Occidental to boost its productivity.

De los Reyes and Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday joined the anniversary celebration of the Occidental Negros Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Planters Association, which has more than 1,000 ARB members, in Kabankalan City.

The group will be provided with two tractors, with 85 percent of its cost to be paid by the DAR and 15 percent by ONARBPA, de los Reyes told the DAILY STAR.

Professional assistance will also be provided to strengthen the association and ensure higher productivity and profit for its members under the DAR’s Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services Program, he added.

De los Reyes said he wants to hold ONARBPA up as a model of what can happen to agrarian reform lands with proper support.

He pointed out that if agrarian reform beneficiaries work together they can make a go at making profits from their sugar lands.*CPG
