Medical mission of mall
helps 2,672 Bacoleños

The free medical services offered by SM Bacolod and its foundation at the mall recently benefitted around 2,672 Bacoleños, its press release said.

Of those served, 2,354 availed of consultation services, 96 had dental extraction, and the 21 referred for urinalysis, 119 for X-ray and 82 for ECG were helped by the Foundation’s mobile clinic. The patients were provided with free medicines and vitamins.

The activity was in coordination with the City Health Office, Lion’s Club, Caritas Bacolod, Red Cross, the Philippine Society of Anesthesiologists–Negros Chapter, the Radio Mindanao Network, and volunteers from the BDO Foundation and the Department of Social Services and Development, the press release also said.

Another medical mission is scheduled late this month as part of the reopening of the Barangay 12 health center, that will be renamed the Felicitas T. Sy Wellness Center/San Juan Health Center. It will serve residents of barangays 8 to 12, 17, 18, and 21 of Bacolod, the press release added.*

congress Aug. 17-19

The 16th National Administrators Congress of the Private Schools and School Administrators Association of the Philippines will be held today until Sunday at the Pavillon Resort Hotel and Restaurant in Bacolod City, a press release from organizers said.

The congress, on the theme “Retooling School Administrators for the 21st Century Educational Reforms” will be spearheaded by PRISSAAP national president Exequiel Guanzon, with Education Committee chair Celia Andas, the press release said.

Guest of honor and speakers will Department of Education director Lolita Andrada on education reforms, Joselito Flores on managing the school human resource, and Allan de Guzman on assessing school human resource with style, it said.

Highlight of the activity is the mass oath-taking of regional PRISSAAP officers with Andrada as the inducting officer, the press release added.*

Couple wins trip to Shanghai

A couple from Bacolod has qualified for a free trip to Shanghai, China sponsored by Reliv International, a company based in St. Louis, Missouri, in the U.S., a press release from the company said.

Vigee and Beverly Jaro won the package that includes roundtrip plane tickets, hotel accommodation, and free dining. The trip to Shanghai is still to be announced, the press release also said.

The Jaros have previously won free trips to USA, Australia and Beijing, the press release added.*

Group exhibit opens
tonight in Bacolod

The second art exhibition of the 12 members of the Puwersa Pintura group entitled “Wasteland” will open at 7 p.m. today at the Gallery Orange, in Mandalagan, Bacolod City, a press release from the group said.

All three galleries will showcase the theme through the paintings, photography, sculptures and installations of Christine Bangero, Guen Decena, Frelan Gonzaga, Otay Hecita, Intel Japitana, Chaq Lobaton, Tristram Miravalles, Mikiboy Pama, Charlotte Rodriguez, Juan Rosalia, Tatang Talanquines and Jeff Tan, the press release said.

“Wasteland Within” will be at Gallery A; “Playground Labyrinth” at Gallery B and “An Evolving World” at Gallery C, the press release also said.

The exhibition will run until September 8, it added.*
