Five rebel returnees in Negros Oriental yesterday received P50,000 each in livelihood assistance from the national government, with two of them granted an additional P5,000 each as emergency support.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development officer Alice Lagarde identified the recipients as Gaudencio Adapon, Shela Mae Edaño, Panfilo Rio, Sandy Diongzon and Gerwin Alcoy, all from southern Negros Oriental.
She said another batch of rebel returnees will receive similar assistance before the end of 2012. Lagarde said the first group of returnees got their livelihood assistance last April, and the second batch in June this year, under the government’s Social Integration Program.
Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo presented the checks to the recipients, assisted by Lagarde, 79th IB commanding officer Col. Marion Sison and 302nd Brigade commander Col. Francisco Patrimonio.*JG
