acquaintance party tonight

The Recoletos de Bacolod MBA Association Inc., composed of MBA students and graduates of Recoletos de Bacolod Graduate School, University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos, will hold its acquaintance party from 5 to 7 tonight at Planta Centro Hotel in the city, a press release from the association said.

The activity, on the theme “Enhancing Leadership Skills for Better Business Managers”, aims to foster camaraderie among its members. Fr. Jorge Peligro, UNO-R vice president for Academics and dean of the Recoletos de Bacolod Graduate School, will be the guest of honor, the press release also said.

Bacolod Councilor Caesar Distrito will induct the newly-elected officers of the RBMBAAI who are Rieza Hernaez, president; Mark Fornales, vice president; Marie Antoinette Cordero, secretary; Ninya Salabas Ligna, treasurer; Windy Dawn Monge, assistant treasurer; Irene de la Torre, auditor; Sally Claire Diesto, business manager; Wilson Ledesma, public information officer; Warter John Jong, member, board of trustee; and Darwin Destacamento, ex-oficio member.

MBA chair Gorgonio Parroco, Michelle Saplada and Robert Cerrada, and Destacamento coordinated the activity that will also feature singer Kim Chua, the press release added.*

‘No Kasanag charge for
membership fees’

Katilingban sang Paghili-usa (KASANAG) founder and president John Chiong yesterday clarified that their organization does not charge membership fees for those who want to join the organization.

Chiong said in a press release that their organization is driven by the spirit of volunteerism, which advocacy is deeply rooted on the greater welfare of the people, and they provide for their medical needs and never have they asked or charged them with membership fees.

He said he received reports from a KASANAG member that there is a group that recruits members in Bago City and Kabankalan City that charges a membership fee of P100 per applicant. He said this is contrary to the policy of the organization and he wants to correct such wrong action and enjoins the public not to be swayed by those who have unscrupulous motives using the name of the organization, the press release added.*

Chemists seminar Sept. 7

The Integrated Chemists of the Philippines-Bacolod Chapter will conduct a seminar on "Updates in Laboratory Management and Safety," at Planta Hotel, Bacolod City, 1 p.m. September 7, a press release from the group said.

This is open to leading industries in Negros who can send their chemists and technical personnel, it said.

Seminar fee P500 per participant inclusive of snacks.

ICP regular and associate members are urged to pay annual membership fee of P250 for 2012, the press release said.

Eye camp held in
Brgy. Granada

More than 150 senior citizens of Barangay Granada, Bacolod City, availed of free eyeglasses and cataract screening in an eye camp initiated by the Bacolod City Host Lions Club and Sangguniang Panlungsod member Em Ang in the barangay Thursday, a press release from organizers said.

The activity was aimed at helping indigent residents with low vision or poor eyesight. Patients found positive for cataract have been scheduled for surgery through the Lions “Sight First” program.

Granada barangay captain Alfredo Talimodao Jr., kagawad Armando Vito, barangay health workers and nutrition scholars assisted in the activity, that had been conducted in barangays 8, 10, 30, 36, Mandalagan, Singcang, Sum-ag, Estefania and Villamonte, the press release said.

The eye camp is also scheduled in barangays 37, 38, Alijis, Alangilan, Handumanan, Mansilingan, Punta Taytay, Pahanocoy and Vista Alegre this month, it added.*
