The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Makati has approved Resolution No. 2012-074 endorsing the sisterhood agreement between the City of Makati, Metro Manila and the City of Bacolod, Negros Occidental and has authorized Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. to sign the pact.
A copy of the resolution was furnished by the Makati SP to the SP of Bacolod City Wednesday.
The resolution was authored by Makati Councilors Tosca Camille Puno-Ramos, Leonardo Magpantay, Maria Theresa De Lara, Mary Ruth Tolentino, Nemesio Yabut Jr., Maria Alethea Casal-Uy, Romeo Medina, Manuel Monsour Del Rosario III, Arnaldo Magpantay, Virgilio Hilario, Vicente Sese, Henry Jacome, Ma. Concepcion Yabut and sectoral representatives Karis Israelle Cruzado and Ma. Arlene Ortega.
Binay and Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia had signed the sister-city agreement in Bacolod City on June 2012 in the presence of the city officials of Makati and Bacolod.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod SP passed on second reading Wednesday an ordinance declaring the 4th week of October as Barangay Week.
The ordinance authored by Councilor Mona Dia Jardin, said a one week celebration for barangay officials and employees will help unify the 61 barangays of Bacolod City.
The annual Barangay Week celebration will recognize and honor barangay officials and employees as public servants and serve as a break from their usual tasks, it said.
The ordinance provides for the creation of a committee to spearhead the celebration that will be composed of the Liga ng mga Barangay President as chairman and Liga ng mga Barangay Board members as members.
It also provides that the city will appropriate an annual budget of P2 million for the activity.*CGS back
