Teacher in hold-up
asking for transfer
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

One of the teachers in the recent robbery-hold-up at a school in Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental, is seeking a transfer for security reasons, town police chief Senior Inspector Robert Mansueto said.

Mansueto said the teacher, whose identity he has withheld, had been targeted by the two suspects, before the incident.

He, however, said the six other teachers are still willing to go back to their assignments at the Coyaoyao Elementary School in Brgy. Inolingan, in the town.

Roland Cajulao, one of the suspects in the hold-up and hostage-taking of one of the teachers, was found dead, in a sugarcane field, with a stab wound in his lower abdomen, and a broken jaw, investigations of the Moises Padilla police showed.

Armed with a bladed weapon and a homemade shotgun, Cajulao and his colleague, Remy Escano, who are facing murder charges in court, robbed the seven teachers of Cuyaoyao Elementary School in Moises Padilla on Aug. 15.

They also took hostage one of the teachers, as they fled from enraged residents who responded to the incident.

Several hours later, Cajulao was found dead, while Escano managed to escape, Mansueto said.

The Moises Padilla police is now readying robbery charges against Escano.

Mansueto said the security concerns of the school will be discussed during a meeting with concerned teachers, officials of the Department of Education, police and the community next week.

Classes in the school were temporarily suspended, because of the incident. * GPB
