The Bureau of Internal Revenue District Office 79-Dumaguete is urging taxpayers in the city, and the provinces of Negros Oriental and Siquijor, to pay their taxes on time to avoid penalty, and to help BIR reach its collection goal of P1.452 billion for 2012.
BIR-RDO 79 chief Cresencio Agad said the performance rating of the Bureau from January to July this year has cumulatively exceeded its target by P14 million, or P834 million collection against its target of 820 million.
He said that August is critical as it has the biggest monthly collection target at P154 million. Agad said if the goal is met or surpassed, the BIR RDO-79 will be able to reach or exceed its 2012 goal.
He said he hopes that through the relentless collection effort and the support of the taxpayers, the BIR can collect the remaining P618 million in the last five months of this year at a monthly goal of P124 million.
Delinquent taxpayers are sent notices to settle their dues within the 30-day grace period to avoid being penalized. Agad also appealed to Negrenses and Siquijor residents to pay the correct taxes voluntarily and promptly.*JFP
