Slain man's family
filing raps vs. cop
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The family of a man shot and killed by a policeman in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, Sunday last week are filing administrative charges against him so he will be removed from the service.

Marjorie Alfonso, mother of the victim, Greggy Alfonso, 23, yesterday said they are still discussing where to file the administrative charges against Police Officer 3 Kenneth Cerbo of Calinog, Iloilo, who is assigned at the Bingawan town police station, in the same province.

Greggy was laid to rest at about 2 p.m. yesterday at the Brgy. Sum-ag Public Cemetery after a mass held at the Parish of San Isidro Labrador in Brgy. Tangub.

His family, friends and neighbors bade him goodbye and at the same time called for swift justice for his untimely death.

Cerbo shot Greggy Alfonso, 23, of Purok San Roque on the chest and shot his cousin, Rodolfo Alfonso, 25, in the abdomen, while they were buying ice at his store at about 10 p.m. Sunday last week.

A police source told the DAILY STAR that the administrative complaints against Cerbo may be handled either by the Regional Integrated Affairs Service or the Negros Occidental Provincial Affairs service that will assign a summary hearing officer.

Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said they are yet to submit Cerbo's case to the Police Regional Office-6.

Rodolfo said he was traumatized by what happened to them, but that did not affect their perception of policemen.

Criminal complaints for murder and attempted murder were filed Wednesday against Cerbo, who has not reported for duty for five days now, before the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Office.*APN
