A suspected rapist was arrested Friday in Tanauan City, Batangas, after about 12 years in hiding, after a criminal case was filed against him for raping his teenage daughter in Dauin town, Negros Oriental in 2003.
The arrest warrant for rape was issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 31 Judge Rogelio Carampatan, who denied him bail.
A police report said the 48-year-old suspect arrived on a commercial flight Saturday afternoon, escorted by Dauin police chief, Sr. Insp. George Badon, and Senior Police Officer 1 Joel Alcala.
Police and court records show that the suspect raped his 15-year-old daughter, and fled from Negros Oriental after a rape charge was filed against him.
The suspect, who is now detained at the lockup cell of the Dauin police station, denied the rape allegation, and claimed he went home to his native town in Batangas for fear of his life.*JFP
