Joshbianc, Orix dispute
Fil-Sino basketball title

Undefeated Joshbianc Motors and No. 6 Orix Metro will play for the championship in the Fil-Sino All Asian Countertrade Inc. 2nd Conference Inter-Color Basketball Tournament at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym, at 7 tonight.

Armed with a twice-to-beat advantage, Joshbianc will be banking on its explosive duo, Joshua Co and Bobby Yap, whose pooled efforts effectively turned back MRT Gentech in the semifinals, 112-93.

Co scored 44 points, 32 of them in the first half, while Yap finished with 38, including 12 triples.

Asserting its dominance as early as the first half, Joshbian outscored MRT Gentech as Co delivered 32 points and Yap adding 21 markers for a commanding 61-39 lead.

Gentech tried to put up a good fight in the first two quarters but can only managed to squeeze 12 points out of Monroe Chua, while Rey Pandoro, who scored seven points in the first half, had 16 points in the third quarter to cut the deficit to nine points at 77-68.

Pandoro continued to star for MRT as he scored 10 more points in the fourth quarter with support from Charlton Ong. But Joshbianc countered with top center Arnol Laureño, who scored all of his 15 points in the quarter, while Bobby Yap added 14 points to carry Joshbianc to the finals.

Pandoro finished with 33 points, Monroe Chua added 14, Ong and Tim Garrucho shot 13 points each and Bol Manaloto made 7 points.

In the other semis game, Atlantic Auto was poised to secure the second final seat with a 65-47 lead at the break against Orix Metro.

The second half, however, proved to be a different story as Kenderson Hao led an Orix’s balanced offensive to draw closer at 79-74. Orix made an impact in the quarterfinals after beating No. 3 Johann Kendrick.

With the momentum shifting to Orix side, Robbie Jalando-on made his moves and fired 21 points, while teammate Pao Pao Lim had eight points to overtake Atlantic even as Ren Ren Lacson scored 10 points and Mark Lo and Michael Ang scattering six points apiece.

Jalando-on finished with 40 points, Hao shot 18, Lim contributed 14, and RJ Iligan had 9 points.
