Musical play set in Bacolod

A musical play, “Children’s Letters to God” will be shown at the La Proa Ballroom of L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City September 21, a press release from organizers said.

The musical play, is based on the bestselling book with the same title by Stuart Hample. It features Narciso Cabico, Enrique Canoy, Bianca Cueva, Nicco Manalo and Jill Peña, directed by Bart Guingona and produced by Little Boy Productions, the press release said.

The show is for the benefit of the Museo sang Bata sa Negros. Ticket prices are at P100, P200, and P300 for the matinee shows at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and P500 and P1,000 for the gala at 7 p.m. For reservation, those interested may call the museum at (034) 457-8003 or 0917-3000181, the press release added.*

Officers of BCHS/BCNHS
alumni association inducted

The officers of the Bacolod City High School/Bacolod City National High School General Alumni Association Inc. were inducted recently at the Masskara Hall of the Bacolod Government Center by Public Employment Services Office head Moises de la Cruz, a press release from the group said.

Sworn in were Elna Mediodia-Luz of Class ‘73, president; Aladino Agbones (‘76), vice president; Noela Borja (‘81), secretary; Teresita Varona-Legaspi (‘70), treasurer; Edmon Yanson (‘90), auditor; Francisco Bentinganan (‘68), business manager; and Philip Al Estacion (‘80), public information officer.

The members of the board are Nena Tupal-Ortiz (‘67), Ma. Ceclia Jalauig Uytiepo and Philip Alayon (‘72), Bart Orola (‘70), Samuel Montoyo (‘67), Carolina Solidum–Uy (‘77), Milagros Arroz-Guintos (‘62), Joselito Antay and Aaron Villamor (77). The other officers who were sworn into office came from classes 1968, 1972, 1977, 1981, 1985, 1988, 1989 and 1991, the press release also said.

The launching of the 2013 Jubilarians 1988, ‘83, ‘78, ‘73, ‘68, ‘63, ‘58, ‘53 for the 64th general alumni homecoming on April 20 to 21 next year was also held during the induction rites.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia promised the association a P150,000 financial assistance to continue the construction of its “Balay Alumni”, the press release added.*

Youngest club
member inducted

The Negros Occidental Garden Club welcomed its youngest member, 7-year-old Lorien Ysobel Gamboa, who was inducted by president Fe Remitio at the Bacolod Pavillon Resort Hotel and Restaurant recently, its press release said.

Lorien is the grandchild of Club member Ruska Gamboa who said it was the girl’s idea to join the club, the press release also said.

Lorien is the daughter of ABS-CBN Bacolod newscaster Ryan Gamboa and his wife Carmela.*

3,555 bags, supplies given
to three elementary schools

About 3,555 bags and school supplies were distributed to students of Handumanan, Felisa and Kabugwason elementary schools in Bacolod by city officials yesterday.

Around 2,704 school bags were distributed to students of Handumanan ES, 47l to Felisa, and 380 bags and supplies to Kabugwason ES, by Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, and Sangguniang Panlungsod members Em Ang, Homer Bais and Mona Dia Jardin, with Secretary to the Mayor Moises de la Cruz, assistant schools superintendent Clarice Zamora, Handumanan Brgy. Captain Ricardo Danoy and several kagawads, a press release from the city said.

The distribution team was welcomed by principals Theda Limbana, Maria Cecilia Malan, and Gamaliel Alen Tiblero of Handumanan, Felisa and Kabugwason ES, with Parents-Teachers Association presidents Mario Gerona Jr., Milagros Casilagan, and Ejean Aguilar, respectively, the press release added.*
