BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Five nursing students from Bacolod City made it to the top 10 of the licensure examination for nurses held in June this year, the Professional Regulations Commission website showed yesterday.

Paulina Garcia Española of Riverside College ranked sixth with an average of 84.6 percent, Cesar Ian Tan Claro of University of St. La Salle with an average of 84.4 percent ranked 7th, Dytha Marie Moscoso Tamisan and Lalaine Daisy Pingol Espe both of RC, ranked 8th with scores of 84.2, percent and Ericka Yvonne Fortaleza Manalo of USLS ranked 9th with 84 percent.

Española told the DAILY STAR that she enrolled in a review center in Bacolod to prepare for the examinations. She is set to undergo training at RC and will soon work at the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital.

RC college of nursing dean Maricor Famillaran said they are not surprised that Española, Espe and Tamisan made it into the top 10 of the nursing board examination.

Meanwhile, Michelle Jocelyn Cadena, dean of the college of nursing of USLS said Claro and Manalo are magna cum laude graduates of their batch.

She said a testimonial dinner will be held for them and for the rest of the nursing students of USLS who passed the board examination.

Out of 489 students of USLS who took the board exam, 383 or 78.32 percent passed, while 140 from 381 students of the RC who took the test or about 36.75 percent made it, a PRC record showed.*APN
