YBAC semifinals
start tonight

After its sister team ruled the recent Fil-Sino basketball tournament, Joshbianc Motors is eyeing another basketball title by advancing into the final four of the Your Basketball Athletic Club at the West Negros University gym.

Joshbianc will face Jaltas Marketing/Consuelo Supermart in the first semis match-up tonight, while RD Trucking/Dr. Pinoy takes on Robinhood Commercial in the second game. Winners will advance to the finals next week.

The Jun Ballesteros-managed Joshnianc earned the top spot at the end of elimination after beating Jaltas during the game last Saturday.

In the opening quarter, Ian Locsin and Eric Abanilla powered Joshbianc’s 25-22 while Edgard Gallo and Romy Sibolboro tried to keep the Vincent Javelosa-managed Jaltas squad into the game by scoring seven points each.

Joshbianc kept the momentum in the second quarter as they poured 22 points. Compounding Jaltas’ woes was the intimidating presence of Magay, who made it difficult for Jaltas to execute their inside plays, allowing Joshbianc a 47-37 lead at halftime.

The Motors continued to surge in the third quarter blasting 26 points and limiting Jaltas to only 16 markers. Magay displayed dominance in the paint with 11 points and managed to control the boards.

It was only in the fourth quarter when Jaltas got a better performance as they outscored Joshbianc 37-29 on Paul Fernandez’s 11 points and Gallo’s 10 as Coco Rodrigo delivered 6 points but was not enough to overturn the match’s result.

The numerous injuries in Jaltas’ bench have prevented its players to deliver the expected performance.

Abanilla topscored for Joshbianc with 27 points as Magay added 21, Rosal with 14, Garcia and Locsin with 10 points each, Fregil with 9, Wilbert Amoy with 6 and Carreon with 4.

Meanwhile, Gallo led Jaltas with 17 points as Fernandez added 16 points, Galang with 14, Ernie Castillo with 9, Rodrigo and Joenel Anico with 8 points apiece, Sibolboro with 7 points and Nathaniel Bacaron with 6 points.

In the other game, Rolly Buenaflor and Carlos Centino-managed RD Trucking escaped the Robinhood team of Noel Moracil and Danny Chua, 91-90 to finish No. 2 at the end of the elimination round.*
