Veterans Bank inaugurates
renovated branch in Bacolod

The Philippine Veterans Bank inaugurated its recently-renovated Bacolod City branch at Lacson and Cottage Road, Bacolod, recently.

Despite enjoying brisk business from both private and government clients since it first opened its doors in 1994, the management of the bank decided it was time for PVB-Bacolod to undergo a makeover to uplift its physical look and its professional image, its press release said.

With the renovation, PVB is confident it has made itself more convenient and comfortable for its clients in the province, especially the hundreds of World War II Filipino veterans who depend on the branch for the management of their finances, the press release said.

PVB president and chief operating officer Ricardo Balbido Jr. said “We have updated the branch look to reflect the positive changes happening in the bank.”

The bank management also believes that more business can be generated by the branch especially now that Veterans Bank offers innovative products and services like its long-term time products, current and savings account variants to local businesses that are looking for banking products that would help them boost their profitablility, the press release said.

Veterans Bank, which has 60 branches nationwide, reported a 2011 net income of P519.7 million and total resources of P57.4 billion.

Balbido said they hope to open more branches in the future especially in high-growth areas like Kabankalan City in Negros Occidental and Bais City in Negros Oriental.

As part of its commitment to its shareholders, PVB allocates 20 percent of its net income for the benefit of Filipino WW II veterans, the press release added.

Other PVB officials present during the inauguration rites were Director Antonio Balgos, AVP Daisy Sibya, area-head Visayas, EVP Jesus Vincente Garcia, head of Branch Banking Group, PVB Bacolod branch manager Joedith Gepes.

Elsa Leonardia, wife of Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, and Angel Verdeflor, repsenting Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr., were also present.*CGS
