The officials of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Bacolod Filipino Chamber of Commerce and Industry will meet with the Bacolod City officials today to discuss a possible win-win solution for both parties involving the new rates in the 2011 New Revenue Code of Bacolod City.

MBCCI president Frank Carbon said they are scheduled to meet with Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson today and, hopefully, Mayor Evelio Leonardia, to discuss a rate increase that will be acceptable to all.

He said the city upheld the implementation of the local tax law despite the opposition raised by the business sector. moremoremore

2 killed, 1 hurt over ‘bingo'

Two cousins were killed while one was injured when a rumble caused by a misunderstanding over a bingo game occurred in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, at about 11 p.m. Sunday.

Killed were Renato Fulgencio of Purok Roadside and Romy Canon, 34, of Purok Rojas, both in Brgy. Tangub, Station 8 chief, Senior Insp. Jerick Filosofo said.

Both sustained stab wounds on their chests and neck. They were rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but were declared dead on arrival, Filosofo said.moremoremore

MOA signed to
protect 6 wildlife species

The Department and Environment and Natural Resources and the Energy Development Corporation have signed a memorandum of agreement for the protection and conservation of six wildlife species in the country, including the Large Flying and Golden Crowned Flying Foxes in Negros island.

EDC has two geothermal power plants located in Bago City, Negros Occidental and Dauin in Negros Oriental.

Under the MOA, the EDC will initially provide P1.3 million for the first year of the implementation of the project.moremoremore
