NOPPO probe on slay
of Arles continues
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The investigation and solution of the killing of Kabankalan Regional Trial Court Judge Henry remains a priority of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, its officer-in-charge, Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan said, yesterday.

The National Bureau of Investigation-Bacolod has filed a complaint before the Department of Justice against Ilog Mayor John Paul Alvarez, a government employee, and five members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade for the murder of Arles in Ilog, Negros Occidental.

The investigation of Task Force Arles on the murder of Arles has not been turned over to him, but Lirazan said the probe still continues.

He, however, said that he may convene members of the task force, as soon as it is turned over to him.

Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, former NOPPO police director, had earlier admitted that the investigations of Task Force Arles has not yet been turn over to Lirazan but added that the composition of the members of the task force remains as is, except for him, as he is now assigned chief of the directorial staff of the Police Regional Office 6 in Iloilo.

He also debunked reports that the task force has already been disbanded, after the NBI filed a complaint against the suspects before the DOJ.

Task Force Arles is composed of the PNP Legal Service and Crime Laboratory, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Investigation, Operations and Intelligence Branches of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, including its police maneuver company, and the Kabankalan City and Ilog Police Stations.

More than a month after the complaint was filed at the DOJ, Rep. Mercedes Alvarez, sister of the Ilog mayor, said her brother has yet to receive a subpoena.*GPB
