Homicide charges are being readied against a man and his son, tagged as suspects in the fatal stabbing of two cousins in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City Sunday, after an argument over a bingo game.

Station 8 chief, Senior Insp. Jerick Filosofo, said the charges will be filed before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office against Alberto Tolidano Sr., 63, and his son Larry, 26, both of Purok Roadside, Brgy. Tangub.

Filosofo said they will present the affidavits of the families of Renato Fulgencio of Purok Roadside and Romy Canon, 34, of Purok Rojas, both in Brgy. Tangub, and several witnesses before the CPO to strengthen the case against the Tolidanos. They will also submit the death certificates of Fulgencio and Canon.

Investigation conducted by Police Officer 3 Noel Vergara showed that the elder Tolidano and Fulgencio had an argument that led to a fistfight while they were playing bingo in Purok Roadside at about 7 p.m. Sunday, but were pacified.

Five hours later, Fulgencio and Canon summoned the elder Tolidano from his house and challenged him to another fight, and when he and his son came out, a rumble occurred that eventually resulted in the killing.

The elder Tolidano is still confined at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, while his son evaded arrest.*APN

Man nabbed for illegal gun

A man was apprehended by Station 2 policemen allegedly for illegal possession of a firearm in Brgy.3, Bacolod City at about 2 a.m. yesterday.

Arrested was Leo Panoncillo, 34, of Purok Lubi, Brgy. 3, Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Robert Dejucos, said.

A homemade shotgun or “sulpak” with bullets of a .38 caliber revolver was recovered from Panoncillo by Police Officer 3 Benjamin Jamora, Police Officers 2 Robert Torreno and Jermin Bela-ong during his arrest, Dejucos said.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 8294, or illegal possession of firearms, will be filed against Panoncillo, who is now detained at Police Station 2, he added.

Meanwhile, a security guard reported to the police that his service firearm, a .38 caliber revolver with five bullets, was stolen while he was at his workplace at Chowking Restaurant at Lacson Street Bacolod at about 1:50 a.m. yesterday.

Roberto Beatingo, 23, of Villa Alexandra Subdivision, Brgy. Estefania Bacolod said he discovered his service firearm missing when he woke up at about 1:50 a.m.

Beatingo, however, did not say in the blotter report the location of the firearm when it was taken.*RBQ

Bag snatched near church

An unidentified man snatched the bag of a guidance councilor while she was waiting for friends at the entrance of a church at B.S. Aquino Drive, Bacolod City, at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Ma. Theresa Ramos of Eroreco Subdivision, Brgy. Mandalagan, told the police she was at the Redemptorist Church when the suspect suddenly snatched her bag and fled on board a motorcycle.

Ramos said her bag contained her personal belongings, cellular phone and about P6,000 in cash.

Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz ordered intensified police visibility at the Redemptorist Church so similar incidents will happen again.

De la Paz said he has received reports that, aside from snatching incidents, cars parked at the parking lot of the church were also burglarized several months ago.

De la Paz also called on the public not to be complacent and secure their belongings because criminal elements strike anywhere, even in churches and do not spare anyone.*APN
