Drug tests on cops set
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz yesterday said that he will order a random drug test on his policemen to determine who among them uses illegal drugs.

De la Paz said this is because of reports that a city policeman with the rank of Police Officer 1 is allegedly supplying illegal drugs at the Goldenfields Commercial Complex.

De la Paz ordered Intelligence Branch head, Senior Insp. Jose Mulleta, to lead the investigation and collect evidences against the policeman so they could file charges against him.

Policemen found positive for illegal drug use will face both criminal and administrative charges, he stressed.

De la Paz said policemen can not refuse the random drug test or they may be charged administratively.

Police Station 7 commander, Chief Insp. Levy Pangue complained that a policeman, with the rank of police officer 1 allegedly evaded a random drug test recently.

Pangue filed the complaint before the Investigation Branch of the Bacolod police.

The policeman told Pangue that he left the police station suddenly because of a family emergency.*APN
