Politicians have no control over the selection and delisting of grantees of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, as everything is done by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Dionela Madrona, DSWD provincial grievance office of Negros Occidental, said yesterday at a seminar held at Nature’s Village Resort and Restaurant in Talisay City.
Madrona assured the beneficiaries that their political preferences will not keep them from being recipients of the program, unless they violate the rules.
She also reminded politicians not to threaten the beneficiaries and use the program for their political interests.
She said the program provides conditional cash assistance to families who belong to the poorest of the poor, and politicians must not use it for their own benefit.
Negros Occidental, has 86,702 registered clean and active household grantees as of August has 29,084 more households from the towns of Pontevedra, San Enrique, Valladolid, and Pulupandan, Madrona said.
With the additional four local government units, Negros Occidental DSWD has covered all its cities and municipalities including Bacolod City, she also said.
Madrona also said that she received about 3,812 complaints from Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries this month asking for explanations on their reduced cash assistance.
She said that if beneficiaries are non-complaint with the conditions of the program, their allowances are reduced. Each household with children aged 0 to 14 years old receives a maximum of P1,400. *LTG back
