An architects’ group recently held a four-day seminar on Agritechture for Sustainability at the farm of the Magsasaka Siyentista of Negros Occidental Ramon Peñalosa in Victorias City, a press release from organizers said.
The seminar was an advanced celebration of the National Architecture Week 2012 on the theme “Architekturang Tugon sa Kalikasan” sponsored by the Agricultural Training Institute-Manila and Peñalosa Mirco Farm, the press release said.
The topics discussed were agripreneurship, integrated farming, agritourism, organic farming and environmental laws, basic review and preparation of architecture, and concepts of agritecture, application, and its global impact, it also said.
The speakers were Ramon Peñalosa, Wilmon Peñalosa of the Provincial Environment Management Office, and Dr. Jorge Mission of the United Architects of the Philippines-Mt. Kanla-on Chapter-immediate past president, it said.
Thirty-one participants joined the seminar with representatives from ATI regional offices in Luzon and Visayas, non-government organizations, and ATI main office, the press release also said.
The participants also presented outputs where Agrictecture is applied is areas for 100 square meters, 700 sqm, 2500 sqm home lot, 1 hectare farm lot, government buildings, markets, school, highways, and military camps, it added.
Thelma Austria, ATI OIC Division Chief for Extension Innovations and Training Division presented the Certificates of Training to the first “AGRITECTS” who completed it.*
