Five Bacolod barangays
monitored for illegal drugs

Five barangays in Bacolod City, affected by illegal drugs, are under close watch by the City Police Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group as the Yuletide season nears.

These are barangays 2, 3, Handumanan, Banago and Singcang-Airport, CAIDSTOG head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, said yesterday.

Rapiz said they also intensified their illegal drugs demand and supply reduction drive this Christmas season as most heinous crimes are committed by drug dependents.

He said the Bacolod City Police, through the Police Community Relations, will conduct drug symposia in schools and barangays in Bacolod in line with the Illegal Drugs Awareness Week.

Rapiz also said they want to impress upon students the ill-effects of illegal drug use so they will avoid it.*APN

PNP: 4 injured in
stabbing incidents

Four persons were stabbed and injured Saturday by four suspects, including a minor, in the cities of Himamaylan, Sagay and Cadiz, all in Negros Occidental, police records show.

Drunkenness led to the stabbing of Robert Villasana, 25, and Rodolfo Sardon, 24, allegedly perpetrated by Russlen Gutierrez, in Brgy. 3, that was celebrating its fiesta, in Himamaylan City.

Pursuit operations by Police Officers 2 Reynaldo Quesada and Octavio Lienado led to the arrest of Gutierrez, who was disarmed of his belt knife.

In Brgy. Andres Bonifacio, Cadiz City, a 17-year-old suspect was tagged as the perpetrator in the stabbing of Marjun Yugaran on the same day.

Yugaran, 19, was resting at a bench outside his house, when he was stabbed in the stomach with a kitchen knife by the suspect, whose identity is being withheld, investigations of the Sagay police showed.

The suspect is still at-large, while the victim is being treated at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

A certain Johan Ibañez, 34, surrendered to the police, after he allegedly stabbed Ronald Aligato in Brgy. Puey, Sagay City.*GPB

Man nabbed for
using fake money

A man was nabbed by Station 1 policemen allegedly for using suspected fake money to buy a Christmas lantern at Gatuslao-Burgos streets, Bacolod City, at around 7:45 p.m. Sunday.

Supt. Santiago Rapiz, chief of the Police Special Operations Group, identified the one arrested as Julius Semillano, 24, of Purok Cordova, Brgy. 18, Bacolod.

Vendor Edito Tizon said Semillano gave him P1,000 and P500 bills to pay for the Christmas lantern, but he realized that the money was fake, and sought police help.

Rapiz said the public must be careful in receiving money because fake bills are being circulated, especially this Yuletide season.

He said he believes there are people behind the manufacturing and spreading of fake money.*NCN
