Jose “Peping” Cojuangco, won his third term unopposed as president of the Philippine Olympic Committee while Bacolod City's former congressman Monico Puentevella lost his bid for a new term as POC chairman to Tom Carrasco of triathlon, 21-18.
Carrasco ran under Cojuangco's ticket with Joey Romasanta who was elected first vice president, taking over from former Philippine Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines president Manny Lopez who failed to win another term.
Lopez, however, said his group will cooperate with the new POC officers headed by Cojuangco.
Also getting the mandate to sit in the POC in the next four years are Jeff Tamayo of soft tennis as 2nd VP, who won over cycling's Mayor Abraham Tolentinoof Tagaytay City, 24-15; Julian Camacho of wushu retained his post as treasurer after getting 28 votes against the 12 votes for Romeo Ribano's of squash, and Prospero Pichay of chess as auditor after getting 28 votes against golf's Godofredo Galindez, who earned 12 votes.
Also elected to the executive board were Cynthia Carrion of gymnastics, Dave Carter of judo, Jonne Go of canoe-kayak, and Ernesto Echauz of sailing*NAB
