Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3rd District) yesterday announced the approval by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman of a special validation survey covering the cities of Victorias, Silay and Talisay and the municipalities of Murcia and E. B. Magalona.
This is intended to confirm inclusion of qualified households in the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program, he said, adding that DSWD has also approved funding of P2.2M for the special validation project, a press release from Benitez’s office said.
DSWD Regional Director Dr. Minda Brigoli has mobilized the National Household Targeting Unit of Region VI to start the special validation activities from December to January 2013 targeting more than 45,000 households, the press release said.
Benitez said the baseline data being used by the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction is a vital data base for development planning for the Third District and for legislative initiatives.
DWSD Regional Planning Officer for NHTS-PR Trinidad Lopez who led the initial orientation last week said that the NHTS-PR is a critical system identifying who and where the poor households are in the country.
She added that it will give opportunity for other households to be part of the data base that is the source of selection of potential beneficiaries for the government’s social protection programs and other national agencies’ services.
Benitez appealed to all local government units through all the mayors and punong barangays of the Third District to provide support and assistance to the special validation activities, the press release added.* back
