‘Bizman may be
coddling cop’s killers’
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Bacolod City Police Director, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, yesterday said they are verifying reports that a businessman or an influential person could be cuddling the suspects in the fatal shooting of a policeman at the Goldenfields Commercial Complex Sunday.

The manhunt operations continue against the killers of Police Officer 2 Arnold Cañal, 44, of Regent Pearl Homes in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod and member of the Regional Intelligence Division-6, De la Paz said.

On Wednesday night, the tracker team created to look for Cañal’s killers went to an area in Negros Occidental, where the suspects Ramir Arceña, “alias Kid Ramir”, Lino Cuadra, “alias Dodoy”, and their two unidentified companions were allegedly spotted, but they were no longer there.

De la Paz added that the suspects could still be together and may not have left the province yet.

He appealed to whoever coddles these suspects to surrender them as they are armed and dangerous.

Cañal went to the Golden Shadow Bar at about 11 45 p.m. Sunday when Police Officer 2 Federico Nicolas of Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod, saw Arceña, Cuadra and their companions with guns tucked in their waist band.

The suspects left the bar and one of them fired a shot, prompting the policemen to go out of the establishment and disarm Arceña. However, Cuadra and their companions drew and fired their guns, hitting Samson Suico, 47, an employee of the Golden Shadow Bar on the left leg.

Arceña wrestled Cañal’s .45 caliber pistol from him and shot the policeman with it. He also used it in shooting Nicolas on both legs before leaving on board a white Mitsubishi Adventure and a Grey Isuzu Crosswind.*APN
