Fetus found in milk can
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A fetus placed inside a can of milk was recovered by scavengers at the Bacolod City dumpsite in Brgy. Felisa at about 2 p.m. Wednesday, Station 10 chief, Senior Insp. Terrence Paul Santa Ana, said yesterday.

Scavenger Alberto Cornato, 35, of Hacienda Edmar was sorting out the hospital waste dumped by a garbage truck at the dumpsite when his attention was caught by a can of milk covered with cellophane.

Cornato told the police that when he removed the cellophane, he saw something inside the can that he initially thought was a dead animal. However, when he checked further and he saw its tiny hands, he realized that it was a fetus, Santa Ana said.

He said the fetus was buried at the Handumanan Public Cemetery Wednesday.

If it is proven that the fetus was illegally disposed of by a hospital, the management will be meted appropriate penalty, Santa Ana added.*APN
