Security guards to get P794K
from underpaying firm: DOLE

Three security guards who filed labor complaints against a company in Bacolod City received P794,000 as payment of differentials for three years, Labor and Employment regional director Ponciano Ligutom, said yesterday.

Ligutom told the DAILY STAR that the underpayment of wages and other benefits of the security guards whose names they withheld, were discovered during a routine inspection in Bacolod City this year.

DOLE-Negros provincial director, Ma. Victoria Mondragon, said the E & R Security Agency that handled the security guards and the Primex/PhiltrackCoproration in Bacolod City where they were deployed were jointly and severally liable for the payment of back wages of the workers.

One-stop-shop for permits
set Jan. 2 at Gov’t Center

Bacolod City’s One-Stop-Shop for the application and renewal of business permits will operate Jan. 2 to 20, 2013 at the Bacolod City Government Center.

Permits and Licensing Division head Vicente Petierre III said they have been preparing since last month and have sent the letters to national and local offices in Bacolod informing them that the venue will be at the government center.

Past experiences, had shown that the period allotted for application and renewal of business permits was not enough, so they will ask the Sangguniang Panlungsod for an extension, he added.
